(If a folder is selected, than it might be more consistant, when a new file will be created inside of the selected folder. Click on that and create a folder to receive a folder inside. To create a folder inside a folder there has to be a file/folder inside that folder already. Creating a file when a folder is selected resolves in a new file after all leaves of the selected folder. But it’s possible to drag a folder into another folder, so nested folders shouldn’t be a problem. The project folder will always stay on top level, but you might have more top level folders and the project folder doesn’t have to be the first one.Ī new file/folder is created as the next entry on the same level as the selected leave of the treeview. If you try to rename or drag the project folder you should receive a message, that this action isn’t possible.īut it’s possible to create a new folder/file and to drag it above the project folder. You might export your project to a new project and choose a name for it. The only way to rename your project is to use export. It’s named like the project, which is set up in the beginning with a click on “New Project”. The very top folder, which I call the project folder, shouldn’t be editable at all. I didn’t try but strange things might happen. Organon should work on all versions of LO/OO 4.xĭon’t use the manual for experiments. (I am going through the manual, but the first time I opened it all I saw was the first page and I didn’t realize I had to actually expand and click on other entries to read them. But at the moment it’s extremely frustrating. Now I’m using LibreOffice 4.4, and it’s possible the differences between 4.4 and 4.2 are creating irregularities that prevent it from working properly, or it could be that I just haven’t figured out what I’m doing yet. I can see, looking at your manual, that you have been able to create these things, but I can’t replicate them. – I can’t seem to create new files *inside* a sub-folder with any consistency–if I click inside a folder then click the new file icon, it appears immediately after and outside the folder – I can’t seem to drag and drop files and folders after the fact (so if I had a bunch of files at the top level and wanted to group them in a folder, I couldn’t do that) – I can only create folders one level deep (in other words, I could create Organon manual/Start, but not Organon manual/Start/New Project – The very top folder can be renamed once, and then it can never be edited again. However, it seems nearly impossible to replicate (for example) the structure you created for your manual: In other words: you use folders to group individual files to allow you to structure your document however you wish. Here is the general bit that’s frustrating me right now:Īt first blush, when I look at the Organon navigation window, it looks like the Folders and Files metaphor set up should be an almost perfect analog to the way that Scrivener handles things. Well, Organon offers one way of organizing.Ībout feeling clumsy: Why? What is different to your usual interaction with Office? I know, it’s possible to manage these things in different ways – one might like to work with comments for e.g. Or where I can find certain subjects, topics, whatever. As I’m working with large documents it’s quite important for me to know, which part is in witch state. Also to insert, delete and move documents around comfortably.īut of course the more important features are: tagging parts of your document (in different ways), fast overview by opening parts in new tabs, exporting them, importing files from a folder and so on. To visualize and modify each section in one window instead of working with a large document is a big advantage to me, but that’s a personal preference. Your second point: I think, as long as you don’t miss any features while working with master documents, you won’t need Organon. For me it’s obvious how organon works, so I sometimes miss some important points. By the way: That’s why I’m asking for feedback. The next version will have a warning, when an unsaved document is opened. I agree with you about the unsaved Writer document.
